I have had email exchanges with Mr. Wolkis. I have also started to research his personal website as well as the Flying Doctor organization's website. He has been responsive to my emails and open to being interviewed over the phone although I have yet to hold an interview with him.
ReplyDeleteOne thing i would remember is to write your interview questions before you have your interview and make sure you have lots so you don't run out of things to say because it can be challanging to make questions up on the spot.
ReplyDeleteJust finished phone interview (yes I know I should have done this a while ago). He has a great story of how he realized that he wanted to become a photographer (waiting to get orthodontics at a hospital in the Bronx, and copying photos) <- nice tie in to one of his photo's subjects, a girl getting her teeth pulled. From this interview, I learned that he went on his trip to Tibet 7 years ago!
ReplyDeleteAlso got some specifics such as what camera he used as well as some of his most memorable experiences. At the IMVC he plans on displaying his photos and talking for "about 5 min"
